Mayah (pronounced "May-ah")
Mayah Riaz is a Celebrity Manager and a Publicist, known as PR-to-the-Stars. She represents household names from the world of business, TV and showbiz. With over 17 years experience in the entertainment industry, Mayah has established herself as one of the most sought-after professionals in the field.
Early Career
Mayah started her own business at the age of 16, which was a handmade greeting cards and wedding stationery business whilst she was still at college. However, she gave that up to go to university in Bristol to pursue a career in Primary Teaching, which as it transpires was not meant to be.
Mayah's journey in media started when she launched her own magazine, as she was passionate about creating a publication`with no airbrushing and one that was non-gender specific - just like a newspaper! After 18 months, the magazine ceased and Mayah worked on behind the scenes on TV. It was during this time that Mayah started looking into PR and social media, the latter at the time was becoming a useful tool for businesses.
Mayah fell into starting her PR and social media business after James Caan, the former BBC Dragon's Den star, became her first client - before she even had a business. Then followed clients from the BBC The Apprentice. From being a Publicist, Mayah introduced Management to her business and this saw more clients from the entertainment industry. The rest as they say is history.
In 2020, during the global pandemic, Mayah helped entrepreneurs and small business by teaching them how to do their own PR and become as famous as the clients she represents. Alongside this, she advises corporates on the importance of PR, crisis management and publicity.
Mayah is also the founder of the much needed Social Media Kindness Day, which is on 9th November every year. Having seen the dangerous impact of online trolling on her clients, as well as experienced it personally, Mayah is keen to do what she can to eradicate online trolling. By setting up Social Media Kindness Day was her attempt to highlight the issue. Mayah's hope is for this day to one day cease existing.
As a highly respected PR expert, Mayah has a wealth of experience in media relations, crisis management, and brand building. With nearly two decades of experience in the media sector, Mayah has developed a deep understanding of the way in which news and information are disseminated, and she has become renowned for her ability to analyse and interpret complex issues in a way that is both accessible and engaging.
Mayah regularly comments on topics of social and current affairs, as well as that of celebrity culture. She has been featured in a number of media outlets from TV, radio, newspapers and magazines.
Through her commentary, Mayah has become a leading advocate for transparency and accountability in the media, and she has worked tirelessly to promote the importance of objective and impartial reporting.
